Meta-Analysis Training Workshop at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya: Paving the Way Towards Excellent Academic Publications

The Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Brawijaya recently successfully conducted a two-day meta-analysis training workshop from March 1st to 2nd, 2024. The event, held in the auditorium on the 5th floor of Building 6 at the Faculty of Animal Science, was attended by 51 participants from various academic levels. The workshop aimed to provide a profound understanding of meta-analysis and the importance for researchers to publish their scientific work.

The workshop, opened by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Ir. Rizky Prafitri, SPt. MA, PhD., featured diverse topics to enhance participants’ understanding. One of the highlighted topics was bibliometrics presented by Danung Nur Adli SPt., MPt., MSc. In this session, participants were equipped with knowledge about the importance of research accuracy and the need for probabilistic evidence to reduce bias effects. Meta-analysis was regarded as an appropriate method to achieve this.

On the second day of the workshop, Dr. Evellin Lusiana Ssi. MSi and Danung Nur Adli SPt., MSc., MPt., guided participants in the introduction to using R Studio and conducted joint simulations, both qualitatively and quantitatively, for meta-analysis models.

The Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Ir. Eko Susilorini, MP. IPM ASEAN Eng., expressed delight at the enthusiasm shown by the participants. According to him, this workshop is crucial for postgraduate students to acquire the necessary skills to publish their scientific work. With this workshop, it is hoped that participants will be more capable of utilizing meta-analysis techniques in their research to achieve higher publication standards. (MT)
