Increasing MSME Sales Turnover in Senggreng Village, Faculty of Animal Husbandry Lecturer Holds Product Diversification Training

Senggreng Village, Sumber Pucung District – Malang Regency is an area that has great potential in the livestock and fisheries sectors. Because it is in the development of a beef cattle fattening cluster. Besides that, the location is close to the Sutami Dam, so that it can be used for the development of tourism and business in the field of fisheries and livestock simultaneously. The location is easy to reach and connected to other areas via road transportation routes.

There is a community group “Sumber Duren” which is engaged in the development of tourist villages. One of the efforts made is to develop a culinary business called “Dapoer People’s Entertainment Park (THR) Sumber Duren”. The resulting product is processed fresh water fish which is made into frozen foods such as nuggets and meatballs. However, its products are less well known by people outside Senggreng Village. 

Responding to this phenomenon, a lecturer interested in the socio-economics of animal husbandry, Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) provided assistance on product diversification, Tuesday (4/10/2022). The team is chaired by Prof. Budi Hartono, consisting of Dr. Nanang Febrianto, Dr. Priyo Sugeng Winarto, Hari Dwi Utami, Ph.D., Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D, and Puji Akhiroh, M.Sc. It also involved undergraduate students consisting of Althofian Arya Putra, Dinda Ardya Maharani, Elda Hairamadhani Aisyah, Nathanael Ilham Damarbuana, and Rizqi Akbar Hidayatullah.

Team leader, Prof. Budi Hartono stated that the problems experienced by the Sumber Duren THR Kitchen were that the product did not have a production permit, the packaging was not attractive, and the product types were not varied. So that training is needed on product diversification to increase sales turnover.

They Provide training and assistance on alternative product marketing online and offline, as well as diversification products to be accepted by consumers. That is by exposing products that have a longer shelf life, licensing requirements from the health office,provision of knowledge about sanitary hygiene, food safety, good packaging, acceptance tests for products made.
