Improving the Competence of Livestock Seed Supervisors, the East Java Livestock Service Holds a Meeting

The Livestock Service Office of East Java Province held a meeting of livestock breeders Thursday (17/3/2022). The event is stored offline in the Senate meeting room on the 6th floor of Building V Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB). Led by the head of the service, Indyah Aryani, MM, the activity was attended by livestock breeders from the Livestock Service Office throughout East Java and Prof. Suyadi (Dean of Fapet UB) as a resource person.

Indyah said the meeting was the initial coordination of seed supervisors in the East Java region to develop and synergize Indonesian livestock. However, she thinks that supervising the quality of seeds has not been carried out optimally.

“Supervision of livestock breeds in East Java has not been carried out. The reason is that the number of seed supervisors in East Java is not ideal, namely around 48 people. Besides that, HR competencies are lacking in updates and upgrades.” explained Indyah

“Therefore, it is necessary to reactivate the supervision of livestock breeds by upgrading knowledge about animal husbandry, which Prof. Suyadi will give. Hopefully, today’s activities can increase the supervisors’ knowledge.” continued.

Prof. Suyadi, who acted as a resource person from animal husbandry academics, conveyed about breeding in small ruminants. He said that the seed is the same as the foundation of the building.

 “The function of the foundation is to produce a strong and sturdy building. Therefore, the foundation as the basis must be strong. Likewise, with seeds to produce healthy and productive livestock, breeders need to pay attention to the quality of the seeds to be developed,” said Suyadi (dta)
