Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) conduct action research on the implementation of artificial insemination (IB) using sexing semen on cows in the area SAE Pujon. They are members of the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) team, consisting of Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Dr. Kuswati, Aulia Puspita Anugra Yekti, M.Sc, and 15 combined undergraduate, master and doctoral students.
This activity was also supported by Drh. Wawan from BBIB Singosari, as well as several inseminators and SAE Pujon officers, according to Prof. Trinil, IB research using single and double doses with semen sexing on 300 cows, starting in August 2021. The goal is to increase the success of AI and get female calves (calf calves) that can be used as replacements for superior sires.
In order to see the success of pregnancy and the sex of the embryo, the team made observations using Ultra Sono Grafi (USG) on 33 cattle, Sunday (11/07/2021). However, for cattle that fail to become pregnant, the condition of the ovaries and uterus is monitored.
“The checking activity using ultrasound is the beginning of the activity, while the rest will be continued this week.” said Trinil (TS/dta)
