The Facilitator Team and Beef Cattle Cluster Members Conduct Comparative Study

Lecturers and students of the Animal Science Faculty of Universitas Brawijaya (ASF UB) who are members of the Beef Cattle Group Research as well as being the companion team for the beef cattle cluster, inviting representatives of breeders to conduct comparative studies.

The activity which was carried out on Monday (11/2/2020) visited the “Gazebo Pak Lan” in Gading Kulon Village, Dau District, Malang Regency and the “Kucur Mandiri Group” in Kucur Village, Dau District, Malang Regency. 

Pak Lan’s gazebo is an example of an open group enclosure. This is because the waste from cattle farms is used to raise worms which can be sold as ingredients for cosmetics, medicine, cow feed or fish feed. This is in accordance with the location of the cluster which is also developing fish businesses in the karangkates dam.

In addition, the used soil that maintains worms is very good for organic fertilizers, which are more expensive than ordinary organic fertilizers.

Furthermore, the group continued its journey to the Kucur Mandiri Group which has succeeded in producing its own concentrate feed. Even the fostered group of ASF UB lecturers has been producing concentrates commercially.

Prof. Trinil as the head of RG for Beef Cattle, expressed his hope that through a comparative study it could motivate breeders to develop their groups and make beef cattle clusters in Senggreng Village, Pucung District, so that they have an impact on community welfare. (Nien / dta)
