Lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) conducts community service in Wonoagung Village, Kasembon District, Malang Regency from October to November 2022. Activities chaired by Dr. Tri Eko Susilorini was carried out with a team of Fapet lecturers from various interests, such as Prof. Puguh Surjowardojo, Poespitasari Hasanah Ndaru, MP, Ria Dewi Andriyani, M.Sc., and Poppy Satya Puspita, M.Si. Besides that, they also collaborated with undergraduate students, including Farah Adiningsih, Dina Nuraeni, Ariel Talentasya, and Nida’ul Husna Imaniah.

Tri Eko et al carried the theme “Strengthening the Role of Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes) through Pasteurized Milk Products in Wonoagung Village”. According to Icus (nickname Tri Eko), the majority of the livelihoods of the people of Wonoagung Village are farming and raising dairy cattle, with ownership of 2 to 5 head of cattle per person. Milk production reaches 55,000 liters per day which is sent to KUD Ngantang which is then accommodated by PT. NESTLE Indonesia has the largest Milk Processing Industry (IPS) in East Java. So that it became one of the milk production centers in Malang Regency.

On the other hand, the people of Wonoagung Village are also actively promoting the development of the agro-tourism sector, through fruit-picking tours such as bananas, durians, salak and mangoes. Bumdes play an important role in developing village potential, especially in the tourism and livestock sectors.

However, in the last two years, the tourism sector has declined due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. Responding to this, the team of lecturers and students of Faculty of Animal Science UB as animal husbandry academics are making efforts to boost the community’s economy and become a big potential of the fresh milk produced. The way to create added value is by processing dairy products.

“Agro-industrial ecotourism is a form of integration in the development of ecotourism and agroindustry systems that optimize the utilization of local commodities into competitive products. At the same time as a regional superior product to minimize the negative impact on sustainable and standardized tourism activities.” bright Icus (dta)
