The 3rd ICESAI: Discussing Issues of Environmentally Friendly Livestock Industry Development through Smart Farming

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) again held the 3rd International Conference on Environmentally Sustainable Animal Industry (ICESAI), Thursday (13/10/2022). The activity, which was held online, was an annual routine international seminar from 2020, to accommodate livestock actors to discuss livestock issues. At the same time improving the ranking of the Faculty through international publications and proceedings as the output of activities.

This was conveyed by the chief executive, Dr. Irida Novianti, S.Pt.,M.Agr.Sc. in his speech. He reported that 175 participants from seven countries such as China, Canada, Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Indonesia participated in the plenary session. And as many as 81 abstracts have been submitted and are ready to take part in the parallel session. 

At the plenary session will be a keynote speaker animal husbandry experts from within and outside the country. Among them are Dr. Carolyn Fitzsimmons (University of Alberta, Canada), Prof. Kusmartono (University of Brawijaya), Prof. R. Rajendran (Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, India), Prof. Shinici Yonekura (Shinshu University, Japan), Prof. AK Thiruvenkadan (Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Dr. Norsida Man (Universiti Putra Malaysia), and Prof. Sejong Oh (Chonnam National University, South Korea).

Meanwhile, the parallel session was divided into eight based on sub-themes, including Animal Products and Sustainable Post-Harvest Technology, Animal Products and Sustainable Post-Harvest Technology, Feed Resources and Technology, Feed Resources and Technology, Local Animal Resources, Socio-Economic Studies and Community Development, Sustainable Animal Production Systems, and Sustainable Animal Production Systems.

The theme raised at the third ICESAI this time is Developing Sustainable and Eco Friendly Animal Industry Through Smart Farming System, which will discuss the development of an environmentally friendly and sustainable livestock industry, using related smart farming through scientific research and how to implement
