Chiang Mai, Thailand – December 17, 2023 – The 11th annual Southeast Asia Network of Animal Science (SEANAS) Meeting was successfully held at Maejo University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on December 15-16, 2023. The event served as a platform for academicians in the field of animal husbandry from several Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, to share knowledge and renew collaborations in animal science education.
With the main theme, “Sharing and Updating on Co-operation Education/Work Integrated Learning in Animal Science Curriculum: The Comprehensive Aspects in Future Development for Food Safety under SDGs and BCG,” this SEANAS meeting attracted the attention of key stakeholders, including Ir. Rizki Prafitri, S.Pt, MA, PhD, representing the position of Vice Dean 1, and Dr. Ir. Eko Widodo, M.Agr.Sc, representing the position of Vice Dean 3, both from the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB).
As a keynote speaker, the CEO of the largest poultry exporting company in Thailand, Saha Farms International, provided crucial insights related to the event’s theme, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in education and integrated learning in the animal science curriculum.
Fapet UB actively contributed to the event by sharing their experiences in implementing Campus-Industry Collaborative Internship Program (Magang Berbasis Kampus-Mitra or MBKM). The Vice Dean for Education at Fapet UB delivered a presentation covering MBKM activities, industry partnerships, benefits obtained by students, and challenges faced by the faculty in managing these activities.
Furthermore, the Faculty of Animal Science at the Universitas Brawijaya highlighted collaborations established with other SEANAS member faculties, particularly with Maejo University. They elaborated on initiatives such as student exchange programs and summer courses conducted in 2023, with plans to continue these activities in 2024. (MT)
