Welcoming New Students Fapet Conducts Online PKKMB 

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) accepts 718 new students for the 2021/2022 academic year. Welcoming the joining of members of the Fapet UB big family was carried out by holding an Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB), Saturday and Sunday (21-22/08/2021).

In view of the uncontrolled pandemic conditions, the event was held online with the theme “Integrity of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Creates New Students who are Social, Creative, Innovative, Excellent and Proud of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry.” This online PKKMB implementation is the second time since 2020.

Every year PKKMB participants get nicknames according to the logo determined by the committee. This time they are called Holstein, the most popular dairy cow in the world who has strong physical advantages, high social spirit (clusters), and is easy to adapt. It is hoped that the 2021 freshmen will have a hard work spirit, be persistent, persevere in the industrial era 4.0, have a strong mentality, have a social spirit, and are easy to adapt to.

The opening ceremony was marked by the beating of the gong by the Dean, Prof.Dr.Sc.Agr.Ir. Suyadi, MS.,IPU.,ASEAN Eng. In his speech, he was proud of the new students who have successfully passed into UB after surpassing the tough competition from various selection paths. So that they deserve high-quality academic learning, to form young intellectual-scientists. As well as having professional abilities and high competitiveness in applying animal husbandry sciences.

“UB Faculty of Animal Science is one of the best superior animal husbandry faculties in Indonesia which has been accredited nationally and internationally. Such as superior accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN PT) and quality certification at the ASEAN level by AUN-QA (Asean Universities Network – Quality Assurance).” said Suyadi

 “Nowadays Fapet is in the process of applying for an international accreditation named Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik (ASIIN) and the Agency for Quality Assurance (AQAS).” he continued,

the learning system in Fapet UB since 2020 has undergone a significant change. Where it combines a classroom learning system with a nuanced theoretical development with direct practice in the field that emphasizes practical skills. This step was taken in order to implement the Independent Learning – Independent Campus (MBKM) learning program launched by the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

Through the MBKM program students will have better competencies both scientifically and practically. So as to improve the quality and competitiveness of the graduates produced. (dta)
