Field Work Practice (PKL) at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, is a mandatory course that students must participate in. This activity is designed to provide practical experience to students in applying the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to real-world situations in the field.

During PKL, students will be placed in various institutions or companies engaged in animal husbandry, ranging from small, medium, to large scales. The PKL locations are selected considering the needs and interests of the students, as well as the availability of practice sites that can provide optimal learning experiences.

Requirements To participate in PKL, students must meet several requirements:

  1. Active Student Status: Students who will participate in PKL must be registered as active students at the Faculty of Animal sience, University of Brawijaya.
  2. Completion of Prerequisite Courses: Students must complete a number of basic and specialized courses designated as prerequisites before undertaking PKL.
  3. Minimum GPA: Students must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) as stipulated by the faculty.
  4. Advisor Recommendation: Students must obtain a recommendation from their academic advisor to participate in PKL.
  5. Attending Preparation Programs: Students are required to attend the PKL preparation program, which includes basic knowledge, technical skills, and work ethics.

Implementation of PKL During PKL, students are expected to:

  1. Apply Theory to Practice: Apply the knowledge gained during lectures to daily operational activities in the field.
  2. Develop Professional Skills: Enhance technical and managerial capabilities in animal sience, as well as communication and teamwork skills.
  3. Identify and Solve Problems: Face various real-world challenges in the field and seek effective solutions based on scientific and analytical approaches.
  4. Expand Professional Networks: Build relationships with practitioners and professionals in the field of animal sience that can be beneficial for future careers.

PKL is systematically and structurally organized, beginning with thorough preparation, controlled execution, and comprehensive evaluation. Before starting PKL, students must attend a series of preparatory sessions covering basic knowledge, technical skills, and work ethics.

While undergoing PKL, students are required to make daily reports on the activities conducted, challenges faced, and lessons learned. These reports will be evaluated by the academic advisor and the institution where the PKL takes place.

PKL Examination After completing the PKL period, students will undergo several evaluation stages consisting of:

  1. Final PKL Report: Students must prepare a comprehensive final report on all PKL activities conducted. This report should include an analysis of activities, field findings, and implemented solutions.
  2. Presentation and Oral Examination: Students will present the final PKL report in front of an evaluation panel consisting of the academic advisor and institutional representatives. During this session, students will be orally examined on their understanding and experiences gained during PKL.
  3. Field Performance Assessment: The evaluation will also be based on students’ performance in the field, covering aspects of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and professional attitude.

Field Work Practice at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, aims not only to train students to be ready to enter the workforce but also to shape resilient, innovative, and adaptive characters in response to the ever-evolving world of animal science.
