The Semester Credit System (SKS) is a credit system conducted in a semester time unit. The value of 1 (one) semester credit unit in lectures is determined based on the load of activities including the entire weekly activities as follows:
- Fifty minutes of scheduled face-to-face events with lecturers, such as lectures, seminars, and so on.
- Sixty minutes of structured academic activities, which are unscheduled but planned by the lecturers, such as homework or solving problems.
- Sixty minutes of independent academic activities, which are activities that must be carried out to deepen, prepare, or other academic purposes, such as reading reference books.
2. Semester Credit Value for Practicum, Research, and Field Work:
- The value of one semester credit unit with the completion of activities for two to five hours per week during one semester or a total of 32 to 80 hours per semester.
- For laboratory practicum, the value of 1 (one) semester credit unit is a laboratory task load of two to three hours per week during one semester.
- For research and thesis preparation, the value of 1 (one) semester credit unit is a research task load of three to four hours a day for one month, where one month is considered equivalent to 25 working days.
- For field work and the like, the value of 1 (one) semester credit unit is a field task load of four to five hours per week during one semester.
3. Study Load in a Semester:

The study load for the first semester is determined the same for every student, then the study load for the following semester is calculated based on the performance index achieved in that semester.
where:
– Performance Index (IP): Can be in the form of a semester performance index or cumulative performance index.
– K: Number of credits for each course.
– NA: Final grade for each course.
– n: The number of courses taken.
The study load for the first semester is determined the same for every student, then the study load for the following semester is calculated based on the performance index achieved in that semester.
