Isnaini explained that in ancient times batik showed spiritual value and indicated a social level. If the batik motif is more detailed, complicated, and beautiful, it shows the level of social status that wears it. Initially batik was only worn by people in the palace, but gradually it began to be touched by ordinary people with various modifications.
However, nowadays there are a lot of imitation clothes that resemble batik, with technology that is modified by screen printing techniques. So that it can threaten the preservation of the original batik which is actually made using beautiful canting.
Some ways to help preserve batik include helping the industry in terms of legal protection of the cultural wealth of batik, supporting the industry in realizing green batik, innovating equipment to increase batik productivity, education, seminars and campaigns about batik, and introducing batik through local and international exhibitions.
