PKBR: Forming Student Character and Morals Based on Religion

Reality-Based Character Development (PKBR) is a Student Activity Unit in the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB). It aims to guide new students regarding character with a religious foundation. It can improve students’ ability to think critically.

Regular PKBR meetings are held every Saturday, but the implementation has been done online since the pandemic. The theme of the discussion on March 5, 2022, was “Loving Islam as a Strategy for the Implementation of Basic Values”. They are presented by the Professor of Education at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim, Prof. Dr. H. Trio Supriono, M. Ag.

According to him loving Islam starts from a sincere intention. The consequence of a believing Muslim is to love Allah SWT by obeying or worshiping Him, getting closer to what is commanded and staying away from what is forbidden, and following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.

“Loving the teachings of Islam is part of the totality of loving Allah. Therefore, Muslims who always rely on and follow the directions that Allah has determined will live more purposefully in happiness under the auspices of Islam.” explained Prof.trio

quoted the reading of QS Ar-Ra’d, which reads: “Those who believe and their hearts find peace in the remembrance of Allah. Remember, it is only in the remembrance of Allah that the heart finds peace.”

“Love will be a tranquilizer which is poured in the form of dhikr to Allah SWT.” he concluded (tim/dta)
