Magetan – A total of 1,140 students from three of Indonesia’s top universities are currently participating in community service programs (KKN) in Magetan Regency. These universities are Universitas Brawijaya (UB) from Malang, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) from Yogyakarta, and Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) from Ponorogo.
Universitas Brawijaya, one of the participating universities, has assigned 568 students from its Faculty of Animal Science (FAPET UB). The welcoming ceremony was held in conjunction with the other two universities at GOR Ki Mageti on Monday afternoon, July 1, 2024.
The ceremony was symbolically conducted by the Acting Regent of Magetan, Hergunadi, who invited the district heads from all over Magetan Regency and the Magetan Livestock Department. Represented by the Dean of FAPET UB, Prof. Halim, in his speech, he expressed his hope that all students would be able to implement at least three appropriate technologies that could be utilized according to the potential of each area where the KKN is taking place.
“568 students from Universitas Brawijaya will be spread across 40 villages in 5 sub-districts in Magetan Regency,” he continued.
“We hope that the students can apply their knowledge, particularly those from UB majoring in animal science, to enhance the local farmers in Magetan and encourage the emergence of new farmers,” said Hergunadi. This aligns well with the objectives of UB’s Faculty of Animal Science.
This KKN program is expected to make a tangible contribution to the development of the livestock sector in Magetan, as well as to improve the quality of life for the local community through the application of science and technology. mt
