Meeting with Student Guardians to Discuss Learning Systems and Preparation for Hybrid Learning

 Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held a meeting with student guardians of the class of 2021 Wednesday (2/2/2022). The event was saved online, discussed the learning system and preparation for the even semester of TA.2021/2022.

Prof. Suyadi conducted the opening ceremony as Dean. He introduced the profile of Fapet UB, starting from the buildings, the programs offered, achievements to student activities.

“Fapet has six buildings, but the sixth building is still under construction, which will later be used as a postgraduate program building,” said Suyadi

“The programs we offer include regular classes, English classes, international classes, and student exchanges for Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) with universities at home and abroad.” he continued

. Furthermore, the learning system was delivered by the Head of the Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Herly Evanuairini. The curriculum used is the 2020 outcome-based education (OBE) curriculum. Namely, an approach that emphasizes the sustainability of the learning process in an innovative, interactive, and effective manner that affects the entire educational process. Thus increasing student capacity in technical aspects and mechanization of supporting technology to produce outputs ready to face industrialization and entrepreneurship.

The learning method is student-centered learning (SCL), where student activity becomes an assessment, with the lecturer only providing guidance. Then the requirements for graduating students are if they have taken a minimum of 144 credits with a cumulative predicate index value (GPA) greater than 2.00. In addition, I have a maximum D grade in only three courses and no E grade. The duration of study is between four years to seven years.

“We hope that you can monitor your sons and daughters. If, within a maximum period of 6.5 years, they have not taken the final thesis exam, please reprimand them. Because if it is more than seven years, it will be subject to drop out (DO) sanctions.” explained Herly

Meanwhile, the implementation of even semester lectures for TA. 2021-2022 will be carried out in a hybrid. This means that lecturers teach from campus while students take part in a combination of face-to-face (offline) and online, with a maximum number of 25 students in class. However, 100% of practical activities are carried out offline.

The duration of learning is shortened to 45 to 60 minutes per meeting. In addition, each lecture session break is used for room sterilization. The hope is that this effort can reduce the risk of spreading the Covid-19 virus during face-to-face lectures.

However, if, in the implementation later, someone is exposed to the virus in the performance, then face-to-face lecture activities will be suspended for several weeks. Even-semester early lectures begin on February 7, 2022, and are conducted online. The next meeting will apply hybrid learning. (dta)
