Training for Making Animal Products For Menu for Children with Special Needs

Lecturer of Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) conducts activities devoted to the community (pengmas), Thursday (22/6/2023). This 2023 PNBP grant activity is carried out inTalent Development Unit,The Insan Permata Foundation of the City of Malang. The team involved included Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas as chairman, with members Prof. Djalal Rosyidi, Prof. Sri Wahjuningsih, Dr. Imam Thohari, and Dr. Herly Evanuarini. As well as involving students vizErik Anugrah Pamungkas, Nur Rohman Rizqi Pudya Permana, Alia Salsabilla Putri, and Silvia Rosa Al Rahma.

They provide counseling and training on making livestock products for children’s menus (ABK) who are part of the Insan Permata foundation. ABK there totaled 36 children starting from levelPAUD, Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle School. While the training participants were 28 class accompanying teachers and 10 kitchen team members.

Dedes said tThe aim of this activity is to increase knowledge and skills in making processed livestock products in the form of seaweed meatballs for the crew’s food menu. Because People with autism need a special diet free of gluten and casein.

The results of the activity showed an increase of 23% regarding the participants’ knowledge of the ingredients for making meatballs. As well as 86% increase in knowledge about seaweed as an ingredient for making meatballs, especially for the menu for children with autism. (tim/dta
