Senggreng Village, Sumber Pucung District – Malang Regency, is an area with the potential for the development of natural tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry. The leading commodity is rice farming with a total production of about two thousand tons per year and 180 tons per year for freshwater fish.
In terms of location, it is strategically located, easy to reach, connected to other areas, there are road transportation routes, close to the Sutami Dam, and located in the beef cattle cluster area of Malang Regency. So that freshwater fisheries business development can be carried out.
In 2021, the doctoral team serving Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has carried out community economic empowerment in the form of coaching, mentoring, and training on handling freshwater fish postharvest.
This time the team was chaired by Dr. Nanang Febrianto, S.Pt., MP (Faculty of Animal Science), with members of Prof.Dr.Ir. Trinil Susilawati, MS, IPU., ASEAN Eng (Faculty of Animal Science), Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, S.Pt., MP (Faculty of Animal Science), Hefti Salis Yufidasari, S.Pi, MP (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences), and Sri Sulasmiyati, S.Sos, MAP (Faculty of Administrative Sciences) will assist and manage business licenses.
This activity is a step to developing freshwater processed businesses from MSMEs. They involved students of the Faculty of Animal Science UB who took part in the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) program.

The work program that will be implemented includes socialization of the introduction and importance of local business licenses, assistance in making meatball and nugget products, product licensing counseling, socialization of food packaging, education on waste treatment and environmental concerns, creation of social media accounts, as well as progress and evaluation.
“We hope that this activity can improve the welfare of the people in Senggreng Village. At the same time developing the potential of natural tourism and fresh fish farming,” said Dr. Nanang (dta)
