Faculty of Animal Science Students Participate in Halal Certification UMK Companion Training

A total of 28 students from the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) participated in training for micro and small business companions (UMK) with halal certification, Monday – Thursday (7-10/3/2022). The training was organized by the Ministry of Religion’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) at the Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang.

The speakers who were brought in were (1) Abdul Azis, who conveyed the Halal Product Guarantee Policy and Regulations; (2) M.Hi, Nurun Nayiroh, M.Si regarding Assistance and Process Assistance for Halal Products; (3) Dr. H. Syaiful Mustofa, M.Pd regarding the Determination of the MUI Halal Product Fatwa; and (4) Apt. Siti Maimunah, M. Farm & Moh. Taufi discusses Material Knowledge.

The implementation of these activities is to prepare companions for the halal product process to support the acceleration of the performance of the halal certification obligation for MSEs through self-declaration. This effort is a manifestation of the Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) regulation, Government Regulation (PP) Number 39 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Assurance Sector (JPH), and Minister of Religion Regulation (PMA) Number 20 of 2021, which regulates the Halal Certification mechanism explicitly. Abdul Aziz said the obligation to be certified halal for MSE actors with a self-declare mechanism was obliged to meet the criteria for the halal product process (PPH). It starts from providing materials, processing, storage, packaging, distribution, sales, and presentation of products in a halal manner.
