Fapet Students Learn to Raise Laying Roosters at  PT.  Champion of Agroniaga Sejahtera

Students of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) who are members of the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN T) group carry out community service activities at PT.  Champion of Agroniaga Sejahtera.  They collaborate with a team of Doctoral Lecturers, such as Prof. Dr.Ir. Osfar Sjofjan, M.Sc., IPU., ASEAN Eng, Prof.Dr.Ir.M. Halim Natsir, S.Pt.,MP.,IPM.,ASEAN Eng, and Yuli Frita Nuningtyas S.Pt.,M.Sc.,MP.

Activities are carried out in community farms partnered with PT.  Champion of Agroniaga Sejahtera, a chicken farm owned by Sarmidi located in  Temas Village,  Batu city. The five-person student is in charge of feeding and drinking according to needs, caring for sick or injured chickens, giving vitamins, calculating weight gain body every three days,  management of henhouse expansion, and assisting in the harvesting process.

When the beginning of the activity began as many as six chickens died.  According to Sarmidi, the death of chickens is due to stress, because chickens have not adapted to new people, let alone large numbers.  Whereas daily only Sarmidi himself takes care of and maintains.

In addition, students also had the opportunity to help Sarmidi’s other business, namely the KAF Fried Chicken outlet managed by his wife.  They are taught from the process of marinating chickens, the process of scavenging, and frying with the right temperature, to the packaging process.

“The thing that determines the  success of KAF fried chicken the most  is the bending process,” said Sarmidi’s wife

KKNT  activities will be held from July 27  to August 27, 2022.  Before the implementation, students receive training and direction for fieldwork by PT.   Champion of Agroniaga Sejahtera.  The activity ended with the presentation of a  report in front of the   Doctoral Service team by students orally.
