Kultum Ramadan: Source of Sin is Lust and Pride

Humans are creatures of Allah SWT who are not free from mistakes and sins. Ustad Rifai explained that two sources of sin come from lust and pride. The sins of lust are driven by ambition and desire, but this sin is easier to be forgiven by God; people are quick to realize and repent of their mistakes.

For example, Prophet Adam (AS) sinned because he approached the forbidden quldi fruit, but with great regret, he asked Allah SWT for forgiveness and repented; he received forgiveness. However, sins that come from arrogance will be more challenging to get forgiveness from Allah SWT.

The statement was conveyed by Ustad Rifai in the cult of ba’da Dzuhur prayer at the Al A’raaf Mosque, Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), Tuesday (27/4/2021).

“There is a hadith which states that a person who is in his heart as big as a mustard seed will not enter Paradise.” said Rifai, who is also a staff of Fapet UB in the reading room administration section.

“Therefore, don’t forget to do istiqfar to ask Allah for forgiveness and say Alhamdulillah if someone praises us.” He continued.

In the second 10-day phase of Ramadan, which is called maghfiroh (forgiveness) to Allah, it should be used to increase reading istiqfar, increase sunnah worship, and of course carry out obligatory worship to obtain forgiveness from Allah for all mistakes and mistakes. Because the potential for arrogance can come from everything given by Allah SWT, both physical, material, and non-material. (dta)
