Kembangkan Kambing Boer Perusahaan Asal China Gandeng Fapet UB

Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University (Fapet UB) as a livestock institute has been developing boer goat breeding for over 10 years and is the result of cooperation with LDSC-Canada. Beginning in 2004 the Animal Husbandry Faculty of UB imported boer goats from Australia which have superior genetics and certificate issued by the Australian Boer Goat Association. The advantages of this goat are that it is able to adapt to all climate conditions, it grows rapidly, has a rounded body shape, has thick meat, and a high carcass yield, so it is efficient in breeding.

The Animal Husbandry Faculty of UB has a strategy to increase the performance of local goat meat production, hybridize superior male boer with a female local goat called Peranakan Etawah (PE), then produce offspring called BrawiBoer. The research showed that the offspring of this hybrid goat has not seen a decrease in reproduction, which means that the population is able to increase the business of the goat farm. These advantages help society, especially farmers who breed boer goats in other areas.

One was PT. Tienyen International who used the Animal Husbandry Faculty of UB to develop this type of goat’s meat. PT. Tienyen International is a foreign investment company that develops its business from China to Indonesia, and is located in Tangerang, Banten. Established in 2007 PT. Tienyen International is an importer and distributor of veterinary medicines, especially feed additives and feed supplements products for livestock and aquatic animals. Managing director, Dr. Albert B. Winata and staff visited the animal husbandry faculty on Monday (8/8). the reasons of This meeting is discuss about PT. Tienyen International’s wishes to buy boer goat seeds from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry UB, but also need guidance in breeding these goats.(dta)
