UB Student Affairs Collaborates with IKA UB to Hold Entrepreneurship Education and Training at National Level 2022

An entrepreneur plays an important role as a driver and controller of the local economy and the country’s economy. And able to encourage economic growth. No wonder every country always encourages entrepreneurship so that it can develop optimally.

As an educational institution, Universitas Brawijaya in collaboration with the Alumni Association (IKA) equips young people for entrepreneurship, through education and entrepreneurship training at the national level 2022. The event is held online by UB students, Thursday – Friday (7-8/4/2022).

Invite keynote speakers from young entrepreneurs such as Johan Radhitama (Owner BARAKA) and Ashab Alkahfi (Owner Chickin Indonesia – Forbes 30 under 30 yo). And Prof. Ahmad Erani Yustika, SE, M.Sc., Ph.D. (General Chair of IKA UB and Head of the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia).

Besides that, there were also presenters consisting of Ahmad Sadat (President Director of Asiavesta Strategic Investment), Rizki Rahmadianti (Owner of Rira Clothing), and Yogha Pranata Atmaja (Winner of Independent Entrepreneur with Biogas Dispenser Product).

The event was opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship, Prof.Dr. Abdul Hakim, M.Si. He said that activities like this become UB’s real support for students and alumni to develop entrepreneurial skills. So that a young generation of entrepreneurs will be born who are able to provide jobs and encourage economic growth.

Meanwhile Dr. Agus Susilo, S.Pt.,MP,IPM.,ASEAN Eng, Vice Dean III of UB’s Faculty of Animal Science as well as the chief executive, believes that the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is still lagging behind countries in Southeast Asia such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

“There are several factors constraining the development of entrepreneurship in Indonesia.” Agus said

First, the mindset of Indonesians still thinks that the next step after completing their studies is to get a job. Second, the quality of human resources (HR) who lack managerial skills in implementing their business strategies. Third, regulation in conducting business activities. Fourth, access to capital for novice entrepreneurs is full of obstacles.

“We hope that through this activity we can awaken the entrepreneurial spirit of young people. In addition, it provides knowledge and strategies in developing a business.” said Agus (dta)
