![IoT Cattle Scales: Fast, Accurate, and Precise Solution for Recording Cattle Body Weights](https://fapet.ub.ac.id/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/image001-1.jpg)
Universitas Brawijaya (UB) students from the Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) and the Faculty of Engineering majoring in Electrical Engineering and Informatics Engineering collaborate to make cattle scales based on the Internet of Things (IoT).
The innovation created by Zaen Yusuf, Citra Trilaksana, Rangga Adi Satria, Monifa Arini, and Galuh Wilujeng Puspaningrum was named IoT Cattle Scales. They are members of the UB Creative Student Creative Program (PKM-KC) team under the guidance of a professor of Faculty of Animal Husbandry UB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Gatot Ciptadi, DESS., IPU., ASEAN Eng.
According to the team coordinator, Zaen Yusuf, the feedlot has a daily body weight gain to measure the fattening process’s successes. In addition, the value of body weight is also used as a basis for making decisions in maintenance management, such as feeding, evaluation, and long-term planning. Therefore, it is necessary to measure body weight regulatory the tool works is centered on the RFID (radio frequency identification is installed on the cow before weighing. When the cow passes through the scales, the RFID sensor will identify the RFIDcode card. Furthermore, the weight sensor on the scale will record body weight, then the data is sent to the database via the wifi protocol based on the RFID code.

“The weighing technique using IoT Cattle Scales is very simple, the cows only need to walk or pass without having to stop, so the weighing process takes place faster. Furthermore, the weighing data can be accessed on the website, but not everyone can access the website, arequired username and password are to access it.” it is clear that Zaen
IoT Cattle Scales are superior when compared to conventional cattle scales and existing IoT-based cattle scales. Because it is able to record automatically, can weigh when the cow is running so it is more efficient, as well as data retrieval that can be traced anytime, anywhere, by anyone who has access permission.
“This innovation is suitable if it is implemented on beef cattle fattening farms or feedlots, both on an industrial scale and on a small scale.” he concluded (dta)
