Inspirational Talk Show to Improve Ability and Confidence in Speaking English

Nowadays, being able to speak English is a necessity to keep up with the times. Unfortunately, although English lessons have been given since Kindergarten or Play Groups, they tend to be awkward in practice; even the majority choose passive.

Because of this, the student activity unit of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), named English Garden Prosperity (EGP), held an online talk show, Sunday (3/05/2021).  Carrying the Inspirational Talk Show 2021 with EGP, the activities were attended by participants from various universities in Indonesia. Such as Brawijaya University, Jember University, Esa Unggul University, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, and IPB University.

The speakers are students and alumni who are experienced in applying English in their activities. These include Faizal Erlangga Makawi (Research and Development Global English Pare Kediri), Rifa Naziihah (BRIC 2018 Thailand Student Exchange and NTCA Indonesia Australia 2020 Postoral Program Member), and M. Fahri Ikhsani (First Place HARSA Story Telling and NTCA Indonesia Australia 2020 Postoral Member Program). 

In his speech, the President of EGP, Sayyid Muhammad D., said that the purpose of this annual event was to raise the topic of the importance of mastering English to increase participants’ knowledge through online seminars. Besides that, it can share the experiences of the presenters and raise the confidence and optimism of the participants in speaking in English. (dta)
