Identification and Sharpening of The Map of Livestock Sector Investment Opportunities in NTB Province

The step of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) of the Ministry of Investment in encouraging economic growth is to make an Investment Opportunity Map (PPI). Namely the utilization of natural resources and the manufacturing industry that will be offered to foreign investors to invest in Indonesia.

The field of natural resources includes plantations, horticulture, food crops, fisheries, energy, and animal husbandry. While the manufacturing industry consists of the chemical industry, miscellaneous industry, metal industry, machinery industry, transportation equipment industry, and electronics industry.

Lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), Dr. Nanang Febrianto, S.Pt., M.P. is believed to be the PIC for the development of beef cattle in West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB). According to him, NTB province has a capacity and carrying capacity of the land, the availability of forage feed is abundant, the number of livestock cultivation of each farmer reaches dozens, and the livestock labor force is sufficient.

He and his team will make a feasibility study or feasibility study feasibility of the beef cattle business, in terms of market, economy, targets, constraints, and handling. Through identification, analysis, observation, and formulating of policy proposals and their implications for the development of investment in strategic priority projects.

“We hope that this plan can anticipate the vulnerability of the cattle industry supply chain because Australia is the only supplier of cattle, “said Nanang.

The design was responded to by the Director of Livestock Production Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Expert Council of the Association of Indonesian Beef Cattle Business Actors (Gapuspindo) through an identification meeting and sharpening the initial analysis, Thursday (14/7/2022).

According to the  Gapuspindo Expert Council,  it is necessary to invest in prospective seeds for the development of the local market. Therefore, the technology and system of beef cattle farming in Indonesia, need to be industrialized to be more efficient. (dta)
