The Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) welcomes the arrival of new students batch 2023 by holding an Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB), Saturday-Sunday, (19-20/8/2023). The activity took place at the sports field building I which was attended by 706 participants from various regions in Indonesia.
Beating the gong and attaching attributes to the representatives of the participants which was carried out by the Dean, Prof. M. Halim Natsir is a sign that the freshmen of 2023 are officially part of the Fapet UB family. He advised that this next generation is tough and actively dedicated to becoming optimistic, productive, and innovative students.
In line with the theme that is carried out, namely “The Realization of New Students who Uphold the Value of Integrity Towards National and International Achievements.” While the nickname “Jersey Cow” was initiated because the cow comes from the Island of Jersey in the British Channel Island, the border between England and France is physically petite with a weight of 450-500 kg. However, by nature it tends to be more active than the Holstein Friesian cattle and is a tough breed of cattle. So that they are able to adapt well in various climates and are even very suitable to be kept in tropical countries.
This is the basis and philosophy of using a jersey cow as a logo that depicts Fapet students as active students capable of giving dedication and being tough in representing their functions and roles.
On this occasion, a license certificate was handed over from the Indonesian Animal Husbandry Professional Certification Institute which stated that Fapet UB is the Place for Competency Testing (TUK) for Animal Husbandry. (dta)
