Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (FAPET UB) and the Big Family of Alumni of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (KAFAPET UB) held a gathering and halal bihalal wrapped with Online National Seminar, Sunday (6 /6/2021). Carrying the theme “Alumni Synergy in Education and Profession in Animal Husbandry”, the activity brought five speakers.

Among others, Ir. Eddy Karyadi (Head of Production Planning PT. Japfa Comfeed Ind Poultry Breeding Division), Ir. Didik Purwanto, IPU (General Chair of PB ISPI), Ir. Judi Sugiyatno, MM., MBA (CEO), Prof. Dr. M. Halim Natsir, S.Pt.,MP.,IPM.,ASEAN Eng (Vice Dean I Fapet UB), and Imam Bonari, S.Pt (Chairman of the Board of Ethics and Supervision Committee of Paravetindo DPP).

The Dean of UB Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Prof.Dr. Sc.Agr.Ir. Suyadi, MS, IPU., ASEAN Eng, in his speech, said that this activity aims to establish and strengthen the relationship between Fapet UB residents. Besides, together to build professionalism in the field of animal husbandry to improve and advance Indonesian livestock.

“Therefore, synergy among alumni is needed to expand networks, share insights, experiences, and knowledge with fellow alumni, students, and faculties. So that it can improve the quality of graduates and assessment accreditation for campuses,” explained Suyadi

In line with the statement Ir. Didiek Purwanto describes the gap between universities and the business world. According to him, university graduates only understand the theory, individual skills, learning motivation only focuses on passing exams, passive learning processes, and the use of technology is separate from the learning process.

Meanwhile, the demands of the business world require solving problem solutions based on scientific concepts, group or skills teamwork, practical/sustainable learning, integrating between disciplines, learning the process of interacting with others, and utilizing technology for the learning process.

“So Universities need to provide guarantees that the job market can absorb their graduates with a short waiting time because their graduates are superior and in line with the demands of the job market.” said Didiek

Several steps of change are considered effective in realizing superior graduates who are following market demands. First, changing the learning method to be open, interactive, and close to the business/industry world. Both curricula and teachers follow the changing demands of technological developments and the job market. The three universities play an active role in setting the national livestock development road map, and the fourth point is to build networks intensely and actively.

Vice-dean I, Prof. Halim Natsir, as one of the speakers, said that the current Fapet UB curriculum is a combination whose learning grid emphasizes learning achievement (CP), the model Outcome Base Education (OBE)curriculum, the curriculum accommodates ideas entrepreneurial and nuances of industrial development to welcome Industrial Revolution 4.0, as well as the Merdeka Campus – Merdeka Learning curriculum.

The purpose of changing the curriculum from time to time is to upgrade the quality of graduates according to the demands of the times and technological advances, and students can develop their potential broadly. So that when students complete their studies in lectures, they are ready to use for industry and do entrepreneurship. (dta)
