The Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held an open dissertation examination on behalf of Widiastuti Ardiansyah, S.Pt., M.Sc., Thursday (22/12/2022). Taking place at the main assembly on the 6th floor, the event was chaired by the head of the Doctoral Study Program, Prof. Lilik Eka Radiati was accompanied by promoters and examiners. Among them Prof. Suyadi (promoter), Prof. Osfar Sjofjan (co-promoter I), Dr. Eko Widodo (co-promoter II), Prof. Halim Natsir (examiner), Prof. Sucik Maylinda (examiner), Dr. Muharlien (examiner), and Prof. Syamsuddin Hasan (examiner from Hasanuddin University Makassar).

Widia took the exam based on the results of her dissertation research entitled “Production and Reproduction Performance of Mojosari Ducks After Giving Turmeric (Curcuma longa) and Probiotics in Feed.” According to him, the progress of the poultry industry in Indonesia has encouraged the use of alternative antimicrobials in feed, especially herbal plants as a source of natural antibiotics.
“One of the substitutes for synthetic antibiotics that has antimicrobial properties is turmeric, because it contains bioactive substances curcuma, flavonoids, and phenols.” said Widia

Based on research trials, the Teaching staff of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Muhammadiyah Gorontalo (UMGo) suggests a combination of using turmeric and probiotics of 0.6% and 0.8% in feed for production performance and reproduction of Mojosari ducks.
