The staff of the Center for Animal Husbandry Training (BBPP), Batu, Dodik Suprapto, S.Pt., M.Sc believes that ozone exposure is effective in reducing microbial activity and penicillin antibiotic residues without changing the Physico-chemical quality of fresh milk.
This statement is based on the results of his dissertation research which was tested online on Wednesday (14/07/2021). Dodik is listed as a student of the Animal Science Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB).
Together with the supervisor from Fapet UB, Prof.Dr.Ir. Lilik Eka Radiati, MS., IPU and Dr. Herly Evanuarini, S.Pt.,MP and Ir. H. Chanif Mahdi MS, a Chemistry lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UB, he carries out a research entitled “Evaluation of Ozone Utilization to Suppress Microbial Activity and Residues of Penicillin Antibiotics in Fresh Milk.”
He used fresh milk from healthy cattle and cattle during treatment using antibiotics with the composition of Amoxycillin trihydrate 100 mg and Neomycin sulfate 50 mg as research material.
Meanwhile, the research method used ozone exposure experiments for 0, 10, 20, and 30 minutes, in the first experiment evaluating the effect of ozonation on specific gravity, protein content, fat content, electrical conductivity, total plate count, and production malondialdehyde in fresh milk.
While the second experiment evaluated the effect of extended exposure to ozone on specific gravity, protein content, fat content, qualitative and quantitative analysis of penicillin antibiotic residues in fresh milk during the treatment period.
Research shows that ozonation for 30 minutes can reduce penicillin antibiotic residues to reach the minimum contamination threshold required in SNI 01-6366-2000 on the 5th day. As well as shortening the withdrawal time antibiotic with an average decrease of 37.46% per day compared to fresh milk without ozonation treatment. (dta)
