Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) collaborates with Wonoagung Village, Kasembon District, Malang Regency in terms of improving the quality of livestock human resources while practicing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, Friday (12/11/2021) ). Based on the cooperation agreement, the team of lecturers of Fapet UB will provide guidance to the breeders through activities at the field school.
The group that is part of the Doctor of Work (Dokar) consists of Prof. Suyadi, Dr. Tri Eko Susilorini, Dr. Mashudi, Dr. Kuswati, Rini Dwi Wahyuni, M.Sc, Ria Dewi Andriani, M.Sc., Poespitasari Hazanah Ndaru, MP, Wike Andre Septian, M.Si, and Dr. Ahmad Furqon.
According to Prof. Suyadi who currently serves as Dean, Good Dairy Farming Practices is a standardization of dairy farming business. Its main aspects include livestock reproduction, health, milking hygiene, nutrition (feed and water), livestock welfare, environment, and socio-economic management.
“If farmers are able to apply GDFP correctly, it can increase livestock productivity and improve the welfare of the farmer’s economy,” said Suyadi
. This causes the quality and quantity of production to be less than optimal.
To overcome this problem, there are several programs that will be carried out by the Dokar team. These include establishing fostered villages: innovation of feed, regulation of reproduction of cage sanitation and quality control of milk, assisted villages: recording and selection of dairy cows, management of dairy production businesses, and implementation of GDFP on milk quantity and quality.
Besides that, they also donated a couple feed mixer + Diesel SNI INDA 8 HP to make feed independently.
Field school activities will be carried out every weekend using two learning methods. Namely, the presentation of theory in the classroom and on the farm, aka going directly to the field to explore the problems of breeders accompanied by mentors. (dta)
