Lecturer of the Faculty of Animal Science Study Program outside the Main Campus of Universitas Brawijaya (PSDKU UB) Kediri Campus does community service to the Karya Makmur Sejati livestock group, Plandirejo Village, Tuban Regency. The team is chaired by Dr. Nanang Febrianto, consisting of Muhammad Helmi, M.Agr.Sc., Ardyah Ramadhina I.P., M.Sc., Eka Nurwahyuni, M.P., Yohana Nanita Nansy Ardilla, M.Pt., and Dr. Atik Winarti.
The theme carried was “Empowerment of livestock groups through the implementation of an integrated farming system based on the Zero Waste Farming system in Plandirejo Village, Plumpang District, Tuban Regency”. The training participants totaled 28 breeders who are members of the Karya Makmur Sejati farmer group.
Nanang said based on forum group discussion (FGD), it was found that most of the participants were small-scale farmers who had approximately 87 head of cattle in fattening and breeding businesses. However, livestock waste has not been handled optimally, it is necessary to have handling and processing technology. Starting from drying to the fermentation process into manure.
One of them is the basic implementation of an integrated system to produce 4 product outputs called F4. That is Food (food source), Feed (source of fodder and fishery), Fuel (source of biogas fuel), and Fertilizer (source of liquid and solid fertilizer from animal waste).
“The advantages of implementing an integrated farming system are efficiency, independence, and sustainability.” Nanang said
“Efficiency in terms of optimally utilizing natural resources to reduce production costs. Independent through which the system can run resulting in minimum outside input. And sustainable, from an ecological point of view it is environmentally friendly, economically more profitable, and from a social point of view it will increase the village’s potential and become local wisdom that can be accepted by the community.” he concluded (ARI/dta)
