Faculty of Animal Science Production Lecturer Inaugurated as Professor in the Field of Beef Animal Production Husbandry

Dr. Ir. Kuswati, MS., IPM., ASEAN Eng was inaugurated as a professor in the field of beef livestock production, Sunday (24/9/2023). She is a lecturer interested in livestock production at the Faculty of Animal Science, Brawijaya University (Fapet UB). Located in the Samantha Krida Building, the inauguration was carried out by the UB Academic Senate based on Ministerial Decree number 6127/M/07/2023.

On this occasion Kuswati delivered a scientific oration entitled Three in One (MTO) Model Approach for Increasing Madurese Cattle Productivity. According to him, MTO is designed to increase the productivity of Madurese cattle. The approach taken is to integrate morphometric and molecular aspects, reproduction, and mapping of feed potential using satellite imagery, in order to initiate the formation of seed source clusters.

“So far, the selection of Madurese cattle has only been based on selection from breeders based on body size. This MTO has the advantage that morphometrically it can improve the quality of seeds and molecularly it can identify candidate genes encoding growth. “So selection can be done more quickly, increasing the percentage of conception rate and reducing service per conception (S/C).” explained Kuswati

“Through this innovation, it is hoped that we can increase the productivity of Madurese cattle as the main contributor to meeting regional and national needs for meat and seeds.” she said (dta)
