![UB Faculty of Animal Science Lecturers Together with University of Lujan Argentina Lecturers Discuss the Urgency of Providing Corn as the Main Component of Poultry Feed](https://fapet.ub.ac.id/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Screenshot-2.png)
Poultry farming in Indonesia has constraints on the availability and price of feed ingredients in the form of yellow corn. As the main component of energy sources, the proportion of yellow corn use is greater than that of other feed ingredients, which is approximately 50%.
In addition, long-term storage can cause mycotoxin problems. Namely secondary metabolites produced by mold species and can cause disease in humans, animals, and plants.
This problem became the topic of discussion of the online seminar Corn Industry for Poultry Industry: An Insight, A Training of Corn Supply and Substitution, Saturday (10/7/2021). The speaker of the activity is a Lecturer of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), Dr. Irfan H. Djunaidi and Sebastián Sterzer (Head at International Relations Area of the International Trade Observatory at National University of Lujan, Buenos Aires, Argentina).
They convey the problem of the availability of corn for the poultry industry, and alternative solutions that can be done to overcome the problem of corn for poultry feed ingredients, both in terms of quantity availability,
according to Dr. Irfan, the solution to these problems is to establish a cooperation contract between corn producers, distributors, and farmer cooperatives. Establish quality standards that are mutually agreed upon at a price that matches the quality. Expansion of corn planting area in one integrated area for production stability and quality of feed corn.
“Through this activity, it is hoped that it can provide knowledge about the urgency of providing corn as the main component of poultry feed ingredients. Besides that, it provides alternative solutions for providing energy source feed ingredients that can be done to support the development of the poultry feed industry.” explained Irfan The
target of the activity is stakeholders Indonesian poultry, especially academics, poultry farming practitioners, breeders, and students of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. As well as the general public who are interested in poultry, especially in the provision of poultry feed ingredients. (dta)
