Fapet Lecturer Gives Rabbit Skin Tanning Training to Farmers’ Association in Batu City

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held a non-tax  state  revenue (PNBP)  funding grant competition for  the 2022  fiscal year for internal lecturers.   This activity is a form of support for the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially community service.

One of the  teams that passed the  funding was a  group of lecturers chaired by Dr. Dedes Amertaningtyas, consisting of Prof. Djalal Rosyidi, Prof. Nurul Isnaini, Prof. Sri Wahjuningsih, Dr. Mustakim, Dr. Khotibul Umam A., Dr. Herly Evanuarini, Dr. Premy Puspita Rahayu, Dr. Heli Tistiana, and Jaisy A. Putritamara, MP. They provided rabbit tanning training to a farmer’s association in Batu City, Monday (10/17/2022).

Located at  Fauna Jaya Farm, Jl. Semeru, Kungkuk Village Hamlet, Punten, Bumiaji District, Batu City, the training participants were attended by 40 rabbit breeders who are members of the paguyupan partners. The training assistance involved five  Fapet UB students class of 2019,  including Syarif Sulton, Asri Reken Prianti, Dyco Brian Ferary, Vinka Amanda Diva Hartanto, and Erik Anugrah P.

Dedes said the  training involving  students aims to provide knowledge, skills and experience of tanning rabbit skins.  Meanwhile, for livestock groups by participating in training, it is hoped that  they  can improve the ability of the correct hairy  tanning process  so as to get quality tan leather quality and gave rise to the  entrepreneurial idea of rabbit tan skins.

“We hope that this  activity will continue not only to focus on  skin ripening but in terms of reproduction and product as well as rabbit feed, processed rabbit meat, marketing products as well as institutions. ” said Dedes (dta)
