Create Innovation and Opportunities to Achieve Sustainable Livestock Industry in the Age VUCA Through The 2nd ICESAI

impact of pandemic virus Covid-19 effect change in some aspects, thus giving rise to the era of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, ambiguity (VUCA). That is a phenomenon where the world situation changes very quickly and tends to be unpredictable. Therefore, a tough, creative, and innovative person is needed in facing this era.

To discuss the challenges and opportunities of achieving a sustainable livestock industry for food security in the VUCA era, the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya held an international seminar called “The 2nd International Conference on Environmentally Sustainable Animal Industry (The 2nd ICESAI)”. The activity was conducted online, Tuesday (12/10/2021), inviting animal husbandry experts from within and outside the country.

Among others, Dr. Ir. Nasrullah (Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health), Prof. Julius Van Der Werf (University of New England, Australia), Prof. Anjas Asmara Samsudin (Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia), and Prof. Suyadi (Fapet UB). While the participants came from several countries such as Taiwan, Malaysia, Italy, Australia, and Indonesia.

According to the chief executive, Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D., besides being a forum for discussion for livestock actors, ICESAI is also used to improve faculty rankings. Because one of the indicators for the rating assessment from DIKTI is the number of international journal publications, the output of this seminar will be in the form of international publications and proceedings.

ICESAI is an annual international seminar that has been held since 2020. This means that it will be held every year, and in 2021 this will be the second year of implementation. (dta)
