Ngunut, Magetan – In commemoration of the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram 1446 H, a group of students from the Community Service Program (PKM) of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), played an active role in the Cultural Event held at Punden Segawe, Ngunut Village, Parang Subdistrict, Magetan Regency. This event is part of an annual ritual organized by the local government and community as a form of gratitude for the blessings received.

Group 11, supervised by Eko Nugroho, SPt, MSc, Ph.D., contributed in various preparatory aspects of the event. They were involved in cleaning the Punden Segawe area, setting up the venue, preparing the ceremonial tumpeng (cone-shaped rice dish), leading the cultural parade, and hosting guests.

The climax of the Ngunut Village cleaning tradition featured a cultural procession with offerings and tumpeng carried from the village hall to Punden Segawe. This procession was attended by the village head, village officials, and the entire community of Ngunut Village, demonstrating unity and communal spirit in celebrating this significant occasion.

The involvement of Fapet UB students in this event not only assisted in the smooth running of the activities but also provided them with an opportunity to gain deeper appreciation and understanding of local cultural wealth, while implementing values of community cohesion and social care. mt
