Malang, June 5, 2024 – A series of activities under the 3 in 1 program at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, in collaboration with Hiroshima University, Japan, has been successfully conducted. This program featured Prof. Teruo Maeda, a foreign lecturer from Hiroshima University and an expert in livestock reproduction, who delivered lectures at the Faculty of Animal Science. The program is part of the 3 in 1 course on Reproductive Management and Artificial Insemination (MRIB), which had previously included a guest lecture from a practitioner at the Singosari Artificial Insemination Center (BBIB), Malang, Dr. Sarastina, MP.
The event commenced with an opening speech by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Animal Science, Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D. She highlighted that the objective of the 3 in 1 program is to enhance the competitiveness of students both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the event was attended by several faculty members from the Department of Animal Reproduction, including Prof. Suyadi, Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Prof. Sri Wahjuningsih, Prof. Nurul Isnaini, Dr. Achadiah Rachmawati, Ani Atul Arif, M.Si, and Dr. Aulia Puspita Anugra Yekti, who is also the head of the 3 in 1 MRIB course program.
The lectures were held over three consecutive days from June 3-5, 2024, at the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya. They were attended by undergraduate students enrolled in the MRIB course and graduate students taking the Biotechnology of Reproduction course. The materials covered included the reproductive organs of male and female livestock, artificial insemination in poultry, ovum pick-up, and cell preservation technology in poultry. Additionally, Prof. Teruo Maeda demonstrated the Balzac method of vasectomy on sheep, which aims to enhance meat growth and flavor without harming the animals. During this opportunity, Prof. Teruo Maeda also introduced Hiroshima University and various scholarships available for pursuing Master’s or Doctoral studies at Hiroshima University.
Dr. Aulia, the head of the 3 in 1 MRIB course program, expressed that this activity is expected to enhance the competence, knowledge, and enthusiasm of students in attending lectures, and provide them with information about continuing their education to higher levels in Japan, particularly at Hiroshima University.
