Performance Test of PO Cattle in the Seed Source Area of Bojonegoro Regency to Support Food Self-Sufficiency

Bojonegoro, May 31, 2024 – The Performance Test of PO (Peranakan Ongole) Cattle in the seed source area of Bojonegoro Regency was successfully conducted. The event, which took place in Dologgede Village, Tambakrejo District, on May 30-31, 2024, aimed to support food self-sufficiency by improving the quality of PO cattle in Bojonegoro.

This activity involved measuring 25 PO cattle, both male and female, to obtain a Certificate of Seed Suitability (SKLB). The cattle measured were members of the Ustan Mandiri Livestock Farmer Group, which was fostered by Bank Indonesia East Java Province and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University (Fapet UB). The activity took place at the home of the Minister of State Secretary, Prof. Pratikno (Bojonegoro)

Representatives from Fapet UB, including Dr. Nanang Febrianto, Dr. Aulia Puspita Anugra Yekti dan Doni Herviyanto, S.Pt, M.Pt, participated in this performance test, alongside members of the Ustan Mandiri livestock farmer group. They worked together to conduct the performance test to ensure that the cattle met the criteria required to receive the SKLB.

During the performance test, PO cattle that met the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for breeding were successfully identified. The results of this activity are expected to establish Bojonegoro Regency as a center for superior PO cattle breeding, thereby supporting food self-sufficiency in the region.

The event was well-received by various stakeholders, particularly the enthusiastic farmers dedicated to improving the quality of their livestock. With this performance test, Bojonegoro is expected to become increasingly recognized as a leading area for PO cattle breeding, ultimately enhancing the welfare of farmers and the local community. (mt)
