Training on Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition & Feed Formulation (FANFF) at the Faculty of Animal Science, UB, Brings Innovation to Livestock Business

Malang, February 20, 2024 – The Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), hosted a two-day training on Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition & Feed Formulation (FANFF) from February 20 to 21, 2024. The event, organized in collaboration with Delivers Solutions (US SOY), U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), American Soybean Association International Marketing (ASA), United Soybean Board (USB), and USDA, marked an important moment in enhancing the understanding of students and practitioners in livestock farming regarding animal nutrition and feed formulation.

The event, inaugurated by the Dean of Fapet UB, Prof. M. Halim Natsir, accompanied by Ibnu Edy Wiyono as the Country Director Indonesia U.S. Soybean Export Council, garnered high enthusiasm from over 60 students majoring in animal science from various universities in Malang, including Fapet UB students.

Participants gained deep insights from leading speakers, including Dr. Budi Tangendjaja from Technical Consultant Animal Nutrition U.S. Soybean Export Council, Indonesia, Engr. Conrado U. Bulanhagui from Mechanical Engineer Private Consultant, Philippines, Muhammad Tohir from Professional Lab Consultant, Indonesia, Yahya Munirudin from Private Consultant on Animal Feed and Protein Indonesia, and Alfred Kompudu Technical Consultant, Animal Protein U.S. Soybean Export Council, Indonesia.

One of the intriguing presentations was by Dr. Budi Tangendjaja, who discussed the Principles of Feed Formulation for Feeding Animals and the importance of good feed formulation management for successful livestock business. Meanwhile, Engr. Conrado U. Bulanhagui addressed two crucial themes, namely Good Feed Manufacturing Practices and Finished Feed Handling & Storage, providing valuable perspectives to ensure the quality of the produced feed.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, marking the success of this training in enhancing knowledge and skills in the field of animal nutrition and feed formulation. It is hoped that the participants can apply the knowledge gained to improve the quality and efficiency of livestock businesses in the future. (MT)
