On November 21, 2023, the Faculty Members’ Creative Activities team, led by Dr. Irida Novianti and consisting of Prof. V.M. Ani Nurgiartiningsih, Prof. Lilik Eka Radiati, Prof. Tri Eko Susilorini, and Dr Agus Susilo, received an invitation to attend and present at a meeting organized by Fleurieu Beef Inc, South Australia. The meeting was a regular gathering of the Beef Cattle farmers group. Fleurieu Beef Inc is a community of beef cattle farmers in the Fleurieu Peninsula area of South Australia. This group has been collaborating with the School of Animal Science and Veterinary Sciences, The University of Adelaide, for over 20 years. The collaboration involves the dissemination of research conducted by researchers from The University of Adelaide, led by Prof. Wayne Pitchford. This meeting serves as a platform for knowledge transfer and two-way discussion between the university and the farmers as industry practitioners.
During the meeting on November 21, 2023, held at the farm of one of the farmers, the FAPET UB team, represented by Dr. Irida Novianti, presented on Beef Cattle in Indonesia. The topics discussed included an overview and insights into the condition of beef cattle farming in Indonesia and the socio-cultural aspects related to beef cattle. The members of Fleurieu Beef Inc, South Australia, were highly engaged and interested in the material presented, as most of them had never visited or seen the conditions of farms in Indonesia before. The FAPET UB team also gained valuable experience by attending the meeting. The meeting was truly inspiring in terms of showcasing the importance of continuous communication and collaboration between academia and the industry.
