Researchers from the UB Faculty of Animal Husbandry conducted a survey on the preparation of the MSME Halal Mandatory

 Faculty of Animal Husbandry researchers sent student enumerators to conduct a survey regarding preparations for the 2024 Halal mandatory. The research was conducted from August to September 2023. A total of more than 60 MSMEs were engaged in selling fried chicken.

The government targets Indonesia to become the center of the world’s halal industry by 2024. Therefore, by 18 October 2024, all food and beverage products must have a halal certificate. All products and services, consisting of food and beverages, culinary delights, food stalls and madrasa canteens, are targeted to have halal certificates. For this reason, BSPJI Pekanbaru is also campaigning for mandatory halal certification in 2024.

 Fried chicken MSMEs have an important role in assessing the readiness of the 2024 Halal Mandatory because there are a large number of MSMEs and they are easy to do with relatively little capital. MSMEs are growing well with 64 million MSMEs in Indonesia (BPS, 2023)

Preparedness for mandatory 2024 needs to receive the attention of researchers so that the government’s targets can be in line with the development of knowledge about halal in the academic realm. It is hoped that in the future more researchers will participate in researching Indonesia’s readiness as a World Halal Center (PJA).
