Ministry of Social and Environmental Affairs, Student Executive Board (BEM) Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University (Fapet UB) held a blood donation, Wednesday (1/11/2023). Taking place in the lobby of Building II, 1st floor, the event is held in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Malang City regularly.

This time they targeted 60 donors, but the number of applicants reached 81 people who were UB residents ranging from students, education staff, to lecturers. However, only 41 participants were successful donors because they did not meet the requirements. Such as hemoglobin being too high or low, low blood pressure, and menstruation.

Requirements to become a donor are 17 – 60 years old, healthy body, minimum body weight of 50 kg, normal blood pressure, hemoglobin (Hb) level of 12.5 g/dL, not a drug or alcohol addict, the last donation period is three months, not menstruating / pregnant / breastfeeding.

Blood donation apart from helping other people also has benefits for the donor. These include reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure, improving blood circulation, reducing excess iron, maximizing red blood cell production, making the body healthier and fitter, and detecting serious diseases early.
