The impact of livestock farming is livestock waste which can pollute the environment. So innovation is needed from breeders to process waste into something valuable. Apart from reducing the accumulation of waste, the benefits obtained are preserving the environment as well as improving the economy.
Lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) Study Program Outside the Main CampusBrawijaya University (PSDKU UB) Kediri, Ardyah Ramadhina Irsanti Putri, M.Sc. and the team transformed chicken feces waste into organic liquid fertilizer. They dry the feces, then mix it with rice washing water and eco enzyme, then it can be applied directly to plants.
“We apply this fertilizer to the pothos plant, because this plant is not only an ornamental plant. “However, it has many benefits for the environment, especially for improving air quality,” said Ardyah
“Apart from that, this plant is very easy to grow even in water. By adding liquid fertilizer from chicken manure, its ability to grow will be even better.” she continued
This activity was socialized through community service to the Seger Waras Farmers Group from Kedak Village, Semen District, Kediri Regency, Sunday (10/9/2023). Because so far most of the chicken waste there has only been thrown away or sold in the form of dry feces.
Vice General Chairperson of the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Edi Purwanto, S.TP. MM., expressed his appreciation for this activity. Because waste processing efforts are really needed for the community to increase the value of the waste produced by chicken farmers. As well as knowledge of the extraordinary benefits of the pothos plant. The hope is that after participating in the training, they can create an independent village as a producer of organic liquid fertilizer and cultivating pothos. (ARI/dta)
