Faculty of Animal Science UGM Lecturer Shares Knowledge about Nanotechnology in Poultry Feed Additives

Lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Gadjah Mada University (Fapet UGM), Prof. Zuprizal was a guest speaker in a guest lecture held by Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Tuesday (20/6/2023). Located in the senate meeting room lt.6 Gd.V he delivered material on nanotechnology in feed additives for poultry livestock.

According to the lecture by expert  agricultural and veterinary sciences/ poultry science/ animal nutrition and feed science, nanotechnology can be used in the development of poultry feed additives. The goal is to improve growth performance, health, and livestock productivity. For example The use of antibiotics in poultry feed can cause resistance which is potentially dangerous for humans when consuming the meat. Nanotechnology can help address this problem by developing antibiotic nanoparticles that can improve drug delivery efficiency and reduce the dose required. Thus helping to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance and optimize the effectiveness of treatment in poultry.

The event was opened by Prof. M. Halim Natsir as Dean accompanied by Vice Dean III, Dr. Eko Widodo, and the Professor of animal nutrition and feed science, Prof. Osfar Sjofjan. In his remarks, Prof. Halim expressed his gratitude for the knowledge shared with UB Faculty of Animal Science students. He hopes that students take part in lectures interactively, and dare to ask questions if there are things they don’t understand. (dta)
