Invite PMI Malang City BEM to Hold Blood Donation

The Ministry of Social and Environment Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held a blood donate, Monday (29/5/2023). Taking place in the lobby of building II floor 1, the event was in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Malang City, which one regularly.

This time they targeted 60 donors, but the number of applicants reached 125 people who were UB residents, ranging from students, education staff, to lecturers. However, only 60 participants were successful donors because they did not meet the requirements. Such as too high or low hemoglobin, low blood pressure, and menstruation.

Requirements to become a donate is 17 – 60 years old, healthy body, minimum weight 50 kg, normal blood pressure, hemoglobin level (Hb) 12.5 g/dL, not drug and alcohol addict, last donor interval is three months, not menstruating/pregnant/breastfeeding .

Blood donation besides helping others also has benefits for the donor. These include reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure, improving blood circulation, reducing excess iron, maximizing red blood cell production, making the body healthier and fitter, and detecting serious diseases early.
