FGD Evaluation of Formulation of Cattle Concentrate Feed for Farmers in Ponorogo Regency

After providing consulting assistance on the development of independent feed for livestock groups in Ponorogo Regency, Lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held an evaluation, Tuesday (6/12/2022). The team involved included Asri Nurul Huda, M.Sc. (chairman), Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Dr. Masudi, Dr. Kuswati, Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D, Dr. Heli Tistiana, and Aulia Puspita Yekti, M.Sc.

 The activity was packaged in the form of a group discussion forum (FGD) with livestock groups in Pulung and Pudak Districts. The team leader, Asri Nurul Huda, M.Sc. said that based on the results of the FGD, it obtained an increase in the knowledge and skills of farmers in preparing cattle concentrate feed formulations. 

Concentrates produced by breeders contain sufficient nutrients to support the productivity of dairy cattle. Besides that, livestock also really like it, judging by the voracious appetite and no leftover feed.

“Increasing the skills of breeders in preparing concentrate feed independently is expected to reduce feed costs. The feed prepared independently by the farmer has been formulated according to the basic needs of life and the productivity of dairy cattle. Therefore this program is expected to be able to increase national milk production.” said Asri

The mentoring activity was in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries, Ponorogo Regency. It lasts for four months starting from August – December 2022. (dta)
