Lecturers of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) conducted collaborative research with Undergraduate Program (S1) students who are taking their 7th semester. The lecturer team consists of Asri Nurul Huda, M.Sc, Dr.Mashudi , Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Dr. Kuswati, Aulia Puspita Anugra Yekti, M.Sc. and Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D. While student members include Khoiri Nurzaky, Veliyan Aan Andriawan, and Febrio Pandya Sandhu.
They raised a research entitled “The Influence of Trace Minerals on Fermentation Parameters in Ruminants using the in vitro Digestibility Experiment Method”.
Asri as the team leader explained the purpose of the research was to find out how far the digestibility value of the crude fiber fraction in the rumen was with trace mineral supplementation. Trace minerals are micro-minerals that are needed by livestock in small quantities but play an important role in metabolic processes in the livestock body.
“The results of the study are expected to show that mineral supplementation can optimize rumen microbial activity and nutrient digestibility values, especially the crude fiber fraction.” she explained
The research conducted from August to November was research grant funding from the Faculty’s Research Group (RG). Asri et al who are members of RG Red Meat Producers passed the funding. (dta)
