Pulung District and Pudak District, Ponorogo Regency, contributing to producing cow’s milk and becoming a center for dairy farming. Because it is located at an altitude of 1,000-1,500 meters above sea level and has a cool climate, it is very good for agriculture and dairy farming. Based on Ponorogo Regional Regulation number 1 of 2012 Article 14, Pudak sub-district is an integrated agricultural area which includes vegetables, fruit, and livestock.
The potential is read by Lecturers of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB), which consists of Asri Nurul Huda, M.Sc. (chairman) with members Prof. Trinil Susilawati, Dr. Mashudi, Dr. Kuswati, Rizki Prafitri, Ph.D, and Aulia Puspita Yekti, M.Sc.
The team conducted training in consulting assistance for independent feed development in three groups of livestock in Pulung District and Pudak District, Saturday (10/9/2022). The goal is to equip farmers with skills in preparing independent concentrates to increase productivity and efficiency of dairy farming businesses.
Asri stated that the potential for dairy cattle in Ponorogo is extraordinary, especially supported by the potential for abundant feed supplies. Therefore, breeders must be skilled and independent in an effort to meet the needs of dairy cattle feed.
The activity was carried out for four months starting from August – December 2022 in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Fisheries, Ponorogo Regency. Head of Service, Masun said that dairy farmers in Ponorogo must be able to increase livestock productivity in order to support the fulfillment of national milk needs. Besides, the welfare of farmers will automatically increase as well. (dta)
