Welcoming the 61st Anniversary of the Faculty of Animal Science Conducts Health Checkup for Dadaprejo Residents

Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) held a social service for the residents of Karangmloko Hamlet, Dadaprejo Village, Batu City, Sunday (28/8/2022). Charity by providing health checks which include blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. This event is in order to welcome the 61st anniversary of Fapet UB, which falls on October 26, 2022.

Located in the front yard of a closed house located in Karangmloko Hamlet, there were 50 health participants. The majority of participants were elderly people aged 50 years and over. In addition to free check-ups, they also received a goodie bag containing vitamins, milk, eggs, and a rice box.

The examination was carried out by an infection specialist at the Syaiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) Malang, dr. Aulia Rahmi Pawestri, Ph.D. But this time he explained about diabetes mellitus which is prevalent in Indonesian people. 

According to him, diabetes is caused by the accumulation of glucose in the blood, due to not being absorbed by the body’s cells properly. So that it can cause various disorders of the body’s organs. 

“If diabetes is not controlled properly, it can cause complications that endanger the lives of sufferers.” clear dr. Aulia

“Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, from now on, let’s maintain a diet by reducing sugary foods, managing stress, and diligently exercising at least walking after dawn prayers around the village.” She continued.

Meanwhile in a different place, namely the closed house meeting room, Prof. Suyadi as the Dean with Prof. M. Halim Natsir (Vice Dean for Academic Affairs), Dr. Agus Susilo (Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, Cooperation, and Entrepreneurship)and Mr. Rudy (PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia) gave a presentation to village officials. Regarding the role of the field laboratory as a learning support.

Suyadi said the function of the field laboratory is a means of supporting teaching and learning activities for both students and lecturers. Because learning will be easier to digest if you directly apply the theory in the field. Besides supporting the research of lecturers and students.

“Fapet UB has two field laboratories, namely the closed house cage and the Sumbersekar lab which are located approximately 500 meters from here. The closed house  which given by PT. CPI is only for laying hens, while at Sumber Sekar there are beef cattle, dairy cattle, goats, broilers, and forage cultivation.” Suyadi explained

. In agreement with that, the head of Dadaprejo village, Fifi Rahmawati SH, admitted that he was lucky in his area that there was a field laboratory belonging to a state university. Because several people are involved to manage the lab. He also hopes that there will be training for local residents regarding animal husbandry. (dta)
