The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Brawijaya (Fapet UB) has an innovative product in the form of poultry feed additives called “UB Feed”. The product was initiated by Prof. M. Halim Natsir, Prof. Siti Chuzaemi, Dr. Osfar Sjofjan, Dr. Muharlien, and Yuli Frita Nuningtyas, M.Sc. UB Feed is based on natural additives to replace the use of excessive doses of growth promoter antibiotics (AGP) in broilers and laying hens.
“The use of AGP as a feed additive can cause residues in chicken products. So that causes certain antibiotic resistance problems in chickens and humans who consume those chicken products,” explained Halim
This innovative work has been commercialized for four years, which is the result of the Campus Intellectual Product Business Development (PPUPIK) program funding from Higher Education for the 2018-2020 fiscal year.
No doubt UB Feed has always been a magnet for visitors from independent breeders, industry, to the government at every exhibition event. One of them is the Governor of East Java Province, Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.si. visited the Fapet UB stand at the Inagro Expo 2022 event, Thursday (11/8/2022).
